Make This Christmas Special

Hello Dear Friend,

Perhaps the most joyous time for any family is Christmas. But as any parent knows it comes from alot of work and sometimes we forget Christmas is supposed to be fun and joyful.

Children grow up so fast and the time to make memories that last is now.

One of the best ways to make Christmas memories last is working together on arts and crafts.

Little projects with the children can be rewarding for years to come. Each time you gaze upon that hand made reindeer or Santa the memories of those early years will fill you with warmth. And you will teach yor children valuable skills when they become parents.

In this busy day and age it is easy to just go out and buy decorations. But they really ahve lasting value. They often seem perfect but hollow.

My fondest memories are of putting handmade ornaments on the tree year after year. Both as a child and as a parent. Now that the kids are out of the house these little trinkets, though imperfect, a bit scarred from the years, still give me my greatest joy, as I pput each one on the tree or place on the mantle above the fireplace. The years all coming rushing back in a flush of renewed meaning.

Recently I found an absolute treasure that I think will be invaluabel to anyone who is building a family. You see I found out through years or building my own family that it is much like building a brick structure. We all remember the three little piggies? and how the house made of bricks lasted forever. Well so it is with a family.

Often people refer to raising a family. Now this is a nice term but I think it does a diservice. when you think of something raised you think of something created and eventually disposed of or consumed like raising chickens or carrots.

I like the brickhouse metaphor. With each brick the house is made stronger. something that is built to last many generations. Each brick a small but important piece of the bigger stronger whole.

This treasure is a blue print to help build your family.

It is entitled "Things to Make for Christmas"
